Pickles wrote on Jan 23 at 12:26 pmFirst of all, a couple friends and I just wanted to have a good time and sing some karaoke when we decided to go to Todd’s Karaoke Bar and Grille. When we first got there, it seemed like a great laid-back place with common people just singing and having a good time. As the night progressed and started to empty out for the soon closing bar, we happened to smell cigarette smoke. At first, we thought it was the breeze from the door, but as we looked around, the end of the bar had a group of women with lit cigarettes. I glimpsed at the front door to confirm there was no smoking, and of course, since in Lexington, there was no smoking allowed. I went down to the group and asked if they wouldn’t mind stepping outside or putting out their cigarettes, stating that there was a no smoking sign on the door. After telling me to “get out of here”, “there’s the door”, and other untasteful comments on their part, we closed our bar tab and I asked for the owner’s business card. The bartender pointed me to the other side of the bar and stated “well there he is” (who was actually the karaoke DJ). I walked up and told the owner, Todd I’m assuming, about the occurrence. While in the microphone, he began stating sly comments such as “well Tiger Woods with hookers is against the law….”, “Obama….”, “drunk driving…” and “speeding on New Circle…”, while still talking in the microphone. Of course, I called him out for “rallying the crowd” and that I just wanted to let him know that smoking was happening in his bar and I thought it was the right thing to do to report it. After a few words were spoken on the part of Todd, a woman from the smoking group, let’s call her Big Bertha, then started shoving me towards the door telling me it was time to go. I am, by no means, a physically strong woman so Big Bertha, no doubt, would kick my a** and I was scared, so I did what any other woman in my position would do, I called the Lexington Police Department. They said they would send someone out and as talking to the operator, the shoving was still happening so I scooted to the side, between tables, and sat at a booth seat to prevent being pushed out. As my friends were trying to get Big Bertha away from me, Todd got up in my face and had me against the back of the booth, yelling at me to “Leave already!”, “Get the F*** out a’here!”, etc. As my friends and a couple other men saw this happening, they began refraining the owner and telling him he could not do that. Soon after that, a couple officers arrived (after closing time by now) and told everyone they needed to leave and that it would be best for me just to go home now. Of course, I was hysterical about the threats and cornering so I wanted something done, but thanks to my friends, we walked away free, were given a ride home, and have nothing to do about what had happened.
I know that this will probably not prevent anyone from going to Todd’s but I think that what happened was not right and in no way necessary and that and everyone needs to know. |
